Televising the 10” clay interceptor sewer revealed numerous offset joints, root infestation, and infiltration of groundwater. A 5-block dead-end sewer was experiencing similar symptoms causing sewer backups into basements.
The 2007 project involved approximately 2500 feet of Cured In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining the 10” interceptor sewer that meanders through the Municipal Golf Course in route to the aerated lagoon treatment facility. The residential sewer was also CIPP lined (approximately 1660 feet of 8”) at a total project cost of $102,500.
Use of CIPP liner avoided open trench replacement of the interceptor sewer through the golf course and the residential street. The project was conducted in winter to minimize damage to the golf course by trailer-mounted equipment utilized in the sewer lining process. Reduction of wet weather flows to the treatment facility reduces operating costs and frequency of bypassing.
