“There’s Not a Lot You Can Do For Long Without Water”
May, 2010

This newsletter from the Environmental Finance Center at Boise State University addresses a number of issues. Of interest to municipalities and utilities may be the first article: there are “three important issues that affect all of us in the water and wastewater business; the changing demographics of the front-line warriors of the water and wastewater industry and what that means for the future; the future of the federal budget deficit and financial structure that will cause systems to rely on customer charges more than ever before to finance capital improvements; and customers that will question the very basis for how your systems will be funded. Together, these issues present challenges that cannot be ignored by even the strongest utilities. If your mission is to provide the best service, to the most people at the least cost for the longest period of time – then you are certainly up to the challenge and the time to get started is now.”
